Tell me, Amanda,
Do you still enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning? Some of my favorite cups of coffee have been with you, on the go on our way to student teaching, and in the various homes we've lived while we've visited each other. I think we're overdue...
This morning I am allowing myself one sane, quiet, not on the run, cup before I head to the laundry room. Once my wash is in I'll have another, but that one will probably get cold before I finish it and/or before I have to throw my wash in the dryer. As much as I have to run in and out to the laundry room here, I love that I can do all my loads at once, and I am in a perfect location--my building is right next to the building that houses the laundry room and, on the other side, the pool. Right there, right at my door step.
I'm sorry if I made you feel bad last night; I was just trying to poke a little loving fun....I guess I didn't get that the piercing thing really is an issue for you. Too bad there isn't (or perhaps there is) a resource where people who have been pierced and tattooed talk about their regrets in having been so, you know like a site for recovering mutilators to which parents could direct their kids. Honestly, I believe there are more who regret than who don't. Those who don't are adults who at or near middle age get a small tattoo done or a belly button ring--usually discreet and private (not many middle age moms where shirts that reveal their midriffs)--as they hold on to what remains of youth or their youthful spirit for dear life. In my experience, teens and young adults who have piercings done remove them; those who get tattooed spend lots of time later on in life wishing them away. Unfortunately, I have no real advice for you. The best I can do is hope that M doesn't walk in one day with a hoop in his eyebrow or a stud in his tongue. Ouch.
Okay, coffee is done, laundry awaits, as does a list of errands that will get me ready for Newport tomorrow. I leave in the morning so today is the day I need to pack and organize and get my scripts refilled, stop by my mother's for veggies from her garden and pancakes she's sending down for S, have my dad replace a burned out brake light (how sad, hu? I still need my dad to do things like that), etc. Since it's a gorgeous day I'm going to try to get some quiet time by the pool too. (Go figure.) I promise to write again later.
Hope you have a good day. Love, Barb
PS Scroll down, I added my summer reading list on the bottom of the page. You should do one too!
