I just logged on and you must have just posted your entry because when I opened the blog, it wasn't there, but as soon as I logged on, it was. Yeah!!
How weird that you would talk about your nails today. I just got back from having mine done - at a new place - and I swear, I was sitting there thinking about how I had asked you that question and you had never answered! I guess I liked the new place. My other place uses a product that doesn't adhere well to my nails, but they are really nice, speak English well and the salon is clean. I hate to not go there and will probably continue for my pedicures, but if this product works better I'll have to move. Anyway, it's much closer to my house.
Today was nice...my first day as a stay home mom. I got up early with M, who woke up late and was in a bit of a panic. He rushed so much that he ended up being ready a half an hour before his bus! We had breakfast together, then his buddy C (poop-boy) came over and I subsequently no longer existed. He did let me take his picture before he left, though. J and I both followed them out to the driveway (the bus stops in our cul-de-sac) - J to pick up the paper and me just to check out who was waiting at the bus stop. I could tell he was really nervous, watching us, terrified that we were going to stand out there where people could see us. Worse yet, until the bus came. We were human, though, we retreated. As soon as he was on the bus, I woke up JJ and did it all over again. The difference was that both J and I walked JJ to the bus stop (around the corner) and got a hug in front of everybody. I think my kids liked me having breakfast without being all rushed myself and yelling at them. It sure was nice not to be distracted. Much less stressful.
Once they were gone, I got some housework done, laundry, etc. I had one of those bugs up my butt first thing - I couldn't find some cooking utensil in my spoon drawer so it suddenly became imperative that I completely empty, scrub and rearrange it. I did that to two other drawers before I lost my momentum. I answered emails and balanced my checkbook and looked up recipes on line for dinner tonight....it was just so relaxing! I finally got dressed and headed out for my nail appt and the grocery store. I made it home just five minutes after M got off the bus, so he and his bff, CK, and I sat and chatted about the first day of 10th grade (for about two minutes, then that was all they had to say). Of course, when I met JJ at the bus stop later, I got another hug and he talked to me for 20 minutes about all the kids in his class, his new BF, his awesome teacher, his new bus driver, what happened to the old one ("he got an actual job" isn't that hilarious?!), what they did in class, recess goings-on, PE is now 45 minutes instead of 30 (hallelujah for JJ!) and on and on and on. Little kids rock, you know? All in all, a great start to the year.
I must say though, speaking of kids who rock, M and JJ and I spent the day shopping and running errands yesterday and I had the best time with M I've had in ages. He was Mr. Chatty all day, being really funny and goofy with JJ, just laughing and being helpful and not complaining for a moment about how long we were out or how many places we had to go. It was absolutely delightful. This morning at breakfast was very nice too, just the two of us. He's not too bad in the mornings so a little conversation is actually an option with him. So far, so good.
I was impressed to hear you started a lab already. Wow, ambitious! I'm telling you, the cute shoes are just done. But you're right, as long as your nails look good...
I'm off to make some dinner and continue on with my new job. J's out tonight so dinner's easy. Plus I have to call C - she had a big job interview today and I want to check in and see how it went. Hope you enjoy your evening of wine and news...
Love,
A
