Hello.
I definitely wore the wrong shoes today...I had all 3 of my Bio classes start an experiment today and I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off to make that happen. Fortunately I had a chance to come home and change my clothes and shoes before my nail appointment, a topic on which I never got back to you.
Indeed, way back when, but after our Pinkish days, I converted to French manicures and did them myself. I was good at it. Then teaching slowly put an end to nails. The chalk was killing them (drying them out, creating those spider web cracks in the white part) and I couldn't keep up. Then I couldn't live without so I started getting gels. We have since converted to smart boards and white boards and markers at school, but I continue with the gel overlays. Despite the fact that I developed--about 3 years ago, right when I met W-- a severe allergy. Every two weeks, or three if I'm broke and/or stretching it (like this time), I pop 2 Benadryl an hour before my appointment and don a surgical mask during my appointment. How sick is that? I just can't give up my nails!
It took me a while to figure out what was causing my eyes to swell and peel (from swelling to peeling to healing took a good week) because at first it was not an immediate reaction. Rather it took days for the reaction to occur, but after a few months I could see that the time between my nail appointments and allergic reactions was getting shorter and shorter and eventually a couple of hours later my eyes were itching like crazy and I knew the culprit. (In fact I had my first date with W with pink, swollen, itchy eyes. Attractive.) God forbid I give up my nails. Nope. I started the Benadryl and surgical mask regimen. And it works.
So I'm still getting used to this new life that includes a full day of work and it's tough. Today I'm slightly doped by antihistamine so I'm particularly pooped. I settled for Progresso Soup (lot of food for the points) and a glass of wine for dinner, and will probably do nothing other than watch msnbc and have another glass of wine before bed. But, hey, as you say, if your nails look good...
Glad to hear you had a good weekend. Good luck to the boys for the school year.
Love, B
