Good morning, Amanda,
Interesting about the whole emo thing. Is that just M or in general is it a persona all these kids adopt to be cool?...If you learn more about it, I'd love for you to share. Of course the more important thing is that I'm glad you found this out because it does, indeed, change the scene. You have every right to feel better about things.
Sounds like a fun day with the girls yesterday. Every once in a while my fantasy of changing jobs revolves around having a 9-5 schedule that includes lunch out like yours, long lunches where you make up the time at the end of the day. I'm glad you went, and found pants that fit. :) Discount wine is quite a bonus!
J and M and I had a great time last night. We hadn't seen each other in months--the longest time I think we've let lapse since we've been friends, since we decided to maintain our friendship after J1 (who introduced us all) got married and moved. They are both ten years younger than I am, but have life experiences that I have not. M has been married and divorced and has a 6 year old son, J is married with 2 kids--1 son in preschool and 1 daughter younger than the son. Anyway, they both love my chili (everyone loves my chili! ;) ), which makes for easy entertaining. I make it ahead and put it on the stove on low when I get home. When they get here, they get here, and I'm not busy in the kitchen so we can spend time talking and laughing. Since we had a lot of catching up to do, it was a perfect menu. It even left us time to play Yahtzee. When J1 was still around we could sit around her table for hours playing. We have our own Yahtzee language, in fact, which we remembered and used last night. What a hoot. Unfortunately, they had to leave fairly early to get back to their children; when they did we promised not to let as much time pass until we get together again.
Nothing like the company of good friends and a good meal, wouldn't you say? I'm glad we both had a good dose...
Love you, Barb
