Auspicious Beginnings

Hey there, Amanda.

I'm back. After a couple days of enjoying W's company, he is gone and I am solo again, trying to figure out how to spend this last day of vacation. While my coffee was brewing I caught up on blog reading, and now I thought I'd do some writing. Beyond that, I still haven't a clue.

My first instinct is to do my Sunday brunch and mimosa thing. There is no Patriots game for me to watch, but it would be a great way to stay in relaxation and vacation mode--and therefore in denial. I am really loving my new pjs and have Prosecco in the fridge and would love to attempt to finish Garlic and Sapphires so that I can start Wally Lamb. I could also explore Good Reads a bit. (Thanks for the heads up. I had not heard of it.) I should probably take down my tree and decorations, and know that later in the week I'd feel better if I walked into my house and it was all taken care of. Instead, I'll have to get motivated to makes those trips to storage and finally take care of it. Oh well. (I think I pretty much just decided on Plan A: a pajama day.)

I suppose before I take down evidence of the holidays and get back to normal (non-holiday) living, I should also think about resolutions for the new year. Having W around had me a little distracted, so I haven't made my lists although I did some reflecting and I tried to do a few things to establish auspiciousness for the new year. It's one of my mother's superstitions to do something on the 1st to set the pace for the year (in fact she might go so far as to say how you spend the first day of the year is how you'll spend the year), and in my adult life I have modified the superstition to include the first few days of the year (sometimes the first 24 hours aren't quite within our control) and to give it a positive spin. That's why I planned to go out for a nice steak dinner with W on the 1st (which was delicious)...and why I feel just fine about having decided on a pj day today, so that reading and writing (and pampering myself!) are all part of my 2009.

Enjoy your Sunday! Call me later if you feel like it--I'll be around.

Love, B
